Carolina Outdoors Guide is a compendium of federal and state recreation lands in North Carolina. Listings on the pages to the left include links to websites sponsored by the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tennessee Valley Authority, N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation, N.C. Division of Forest Resources and several other agencies.

We've also provided locator maps, linked through Google Maps in most cases. Most of the locations listed are easily identified on the North Carolina State Transportation Map, the state's official road map, which you can download or order from the state for free.

To use this site, start with the Parks & Forests pages to orient yourself to the state's specific parks and recreation areas and what they have to offer, and from there move to the Camping and Hiking pages for more specific information.

Photos with the listings are links (like here); click on them for additional photos and information from our visits.

The Links pages have more than 50 other sources for outdoors information in North Carolina, including links to some county and municipal parks and recreation sources, which are not a part of the main listings.

Keep up with developments at parks, forests and other public lands in North Carolina with our blog, This Land, Your Land.

This site is meant to be a directory of parks and outdoor recreation in North Carolina. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in breadth. We don't know of any single source that identifies as many federal and state properties - from national parks to TVA reservoirs, state parks to Educational State Forests - as this site does.

If you know of anything we've overlooked, see any problems, or have anything else to say, please let us know.

Carolina Outdoors Guide is now on and we're @NCOutdoorsGuide on . Follow us for news and updates!
