Veterans Day free at federal park lands
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced Tuesday that recreation areas managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of America’s service men and women.
The Veteran's Day special applies to public recreation lands managed by the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation.
Affected properties in North Carolina, not all of which charge admission, include nine National Parks, five properties in the Wild and Scenic Rivers program, which is part of the National Park Service, and 11 National Wildlife Refuges and the National Fish Hatchery in Edenton, which are administered by Fish and Wildlife.
