Raven Rock bridle trails re-open
Work on the new parking area is compete and bridle trials at Raven Rock State Park have re-opened, the Division of Parks and Recreation said in an alert posted Monday.
The parking area has been expanded and includes a new entrance and new exit for easier parking and turning, the Division says. Hikers are asked to park in the outer area of the parking lot.
Horses are allowed only on designated bridle trails in the portion of Raven Rock north of the Cape Fear River. Riding on power line easements, closed sections of the old West Loop, or areas other than designated bridle trails is unlawful. Hikers can use bridle trails, but should yield horses and riders approach.
Construction continues at Raven Rock on anew visitors center and picnic shelter, which are due to be completed by December.
