Parkway open at Craggy Gardens
The Blue Ridge Parkway will open one lane this Friday at Craggy Gardens in an area that has been closed for repairs. Traffic will no longer be detoured between U.S. 70 at Milepost 382.5 and N.C. 226 at Gillespie Gap (MP 330.9).
Work on a retaining wall damaged about two years ago will continue, and flag crews will guide alternating lines of traffic.
Craggy Gardens Visitor Center, between Asheville and Mount Mitchell, is also to open May 15 for the remainder of the 2009 visitor season.
