Mount Mitchell tower takes you higher
If you haven't had the chance to get to Mount Mitchell since they opened the new observation tower, the Asheville Citizen-Times takes a look at towers new and old at the highest peak east of the Mississippi.
The tower dedicated in May at Mount Mitchell State Park is at least the fifth observation tower to be built on the mountain summit, the newspaper says.
