Lake Norman has further problems
The swimming area at Lake Norman State Park will close for repairs next Wednesday for an undetermined length of time, according to the state Division of Parks and Recreation. Previously, the Division announced the closure of concessions and boat rentals at the park, which were part of several cutbacks systemwide because of budget cuts, some of which have been reversed since.
Elsewhere in the state parks system, the B.W. Wells campground at Falls Lake State Recreation Area is closed until August 30 and the group camping sites 12, 13 and 14 are closed for site restoration. And at Kerr Lake State Recreation Area, Hibernia Camping Area No. 3 (campsites 115 to 150) is currently flooded and is closed.
