North Carolina Paddle Trails Initiative
The Initiative's site provides paddle trail maps designed to assist kayak and canoe users in planning trips to explore rivers, creeks and estuarine waters in North Carolina's Coastal Plain.
North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund
The Clean Water Management Trust Fund makes grants to local governments, state agencies and nonprofit conservation organizations to help finance projects that specifically address water pollution problems. CWMTF will fund projects that enhance or restore degraded waters, protect unpolluted waters or contribute to a network of riparian buffers and greenways for environmental, educational and recreational benefits.
North Carolina Ferries
Each year, North Carolina ferries transport more than 1.1 million vehicles and more than 2.5 million passengers across five separate bodies of water - the Currituck and Pamlico sounds and the Cape Fear, Neuse and Pamlico rivers.
Graham County Travel and Tourism
Graham County is nestled among hundreds of thousands of acres of mountain wilderness, including portions of the Nantahala National Forest, Lake Santeetlah and Fontana Lake. (Map)

Roanoke River Partners
Roanoke River Partners is non-profit group of organizations and individuals promoting outdoor recreation on the Roanoke River and Albemarle Sound, and their communities. The group has developed paddle trails and platform camping sites along the Roanoke and Cashie Rivers.
South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism
Farther afield, don't overlook South Carolina's coast and islands, lakes and blackwater rivers, and mountain waterfalls and whitewater. The state's wide-ranging tourism site has a section specifically devoted to outdoor activities.
