Clemmons Educational State Forest

Clemmons is a nice place for an easy stroll or a quick workout. Its trails are for the most part wide and easy (as well as short) but over the course of the entire park there's enough elevation change to make you feel it if you get a good pace going.

Here's the trail map.

Trails have boardwalks over wet areas, such as here on the Geology Trail.

Clemmons takes its educational mandate seriously, from the crosscut Red Oak that greets visitors, to the talking trees. The one below introduced itself as a White Oak.

There are talking rocks, too. Limestone here.

Picnic tables overlook the pond through the trees. (There's also a large picnic shelter with a fireplace toward the center of the park, which has to be reserved.) Picnic Table at Clemmons ESF

The view at left below is from the far side of the pond looking back toward the right of the photo at right, which is near the picnic area and parking lot.
