Clemmons Educational State Forest

Clemmons is a nice place for an easy stroll or a quick workout.Fork in Trail at Clemmons ESF Its trails are for the most part wide and easy (as well as short) but over the course of the entire park there's enough elevation change to make you feel it if you get a good pace going.

Crosscut Red Oak at Clemmons ESF Clemmons takes its educational mandate seriously, from the crosscut Red Oak that greets visitors, to the talking trees. This one introduced itself as a White Oak.

Picnic Table at Clemmons ESF Picnic tables overlook the pond through the trees. (There's also a large picnic shelter with a fireplace toward the center of the park, which has to be reserved.)

Clemmons is in northwestern Johnston County (map), just north of Clayton.
