Lighthouse at Ocracoke Island The area known as the national seashore includes Ocracoke Island to the south of Cape Hatteras, which is home to the Ocracoke Lighthouse (left), and Bodie Island to the north, which has its own lighthouse. Visitors aren't allowed to enter either of them. Lighthouse at Bodie Island
You have to take a ferry to Ocracoke; passengers leaving for Swanquarter or Cedar Island get a nice view of Ocracoke's harbor receding as they head out.
