While the Tennessee Valley Authority has campgrounds at several of its reservoirs, none are in North Carolina. (See National Forests above for camping on TVA reservoirs.)

Primitive camping is allowed on TVA land at Apalachia Reservoir in Murphy. (Locator Map)

The lake, which has no commercial recreation facilities, is mainly used recreationally for fishing, canoeing and hiking. Phone (828) 837-7395.
